Christine Kopf new Artistic Director of the DFF

Christine Kopf, who has been acting Director of the DFF since July 2024, will be the new Artistic Director of the DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum e.V. 
This has now been announced by the DFF Administrative Board.
 
This follows an extensive application process following the withdrawal of the previous director, Ellen Harrington. In the end, Christine Kopf convinced the Administrative Board with her ideas and concepts for the museum on Frankfurt’s Museumsufer. Until July last year, Kopf was head of the DFF’s film education department.
Together with Administrative Director Tobias Römer, who has been in office since July 2024 and is responsible for human resources and finance, Christine Kopf will form the dual leadership of the DFF in future. Both will also take on the role of the Executive Board and will be jointly responsible for managing the organization.

“A cineaste and passionate film mediator like Christine Kopf will preserve the German film heritage in particular and keep the DFF visible internationally with outstanding new exhibitions such as the recently opened, visually stunning show “Entfesselte Bilder” about dynamic one shots and long takes or with interesting new projects of the archives. We wish her every success and a lucky hand.”
 
Christine Kopf has worked for the DFF in various functions since the 1990s. She was curator for exhibitions and festival director for goEast – Festival of Eastern and Central European Film, but also worked for the ZKM Karlsruhe and the Robert Bosch Stiftung.Most recently, she built up the DFF’s film education and mediation department, which she headed for eleven years. For four years, she was co-head of “Strategic Development” at the DFF. She is considered to be innovative and exceptionally well networked throughout Germany and Europe.
