The FORWARD project ran from July 2013 until January 2017. It has been in initiated by ACE and funded by the Community programme ICT-PSP as a Pilot B project.
The most important outcome of the project is the FORWARD tool, a solution to help film and AV archives to
- put the Directive 2012/28/EU into practice
- streamline the identification Orphan Works
- ensure that the compulsory Diligent Search is performed as prescribed by the Directive and according to national legislations
THE FORWARD SYSTEM is designed to support users in:
- assessing the rights status of an audiovisual work: is it in-copyright or public domain?
- performing a Diligent Search on in-copyright, potential audiovisual Orphan Works
- deciding whether a work subjected is orphan, partially orphan, or not orphan.
